RESOLUTION 2004-17

"POLICE PROTECTION MILLAGE RESOLUTION"

WHEREAS, Columbia Township is seeking additional funds in order to provide police protection to its residents;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, Columbia Township does hereby resolve to submit the following ballot proposition in the primary election to be held TUESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2004.

"Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed on the taxable valuation of real and personal property in Columbia Township, Van Buren County, Michigan, be increased by one and one-half (1.5) mil, being $1.50 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation, for a period of four (4) years, commencing with the 2004 tax year for the purpose of township police protection. It is estimated the revenue collected by Columbia Township as a result of this proposal will be $90,901 in the first year of the levy."

The foregoing resolution offered by Board Member Burgett and supported by Board Member Fogarty.

Upon roll call vote, the following voted.  Beckwith aye; Burgett aye; Fogarty aye; Harrington aye; Hurley aye .

The Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.
