Supervisor Beckwith called the Special Meeting of Columbia Township Board and Planning Commission to order at 7:35 p.m. Present Beckwith, Speicher, May, Harrington, Landers, Planning Commission Sedlak, Bowen, Ridge, and Speicher. Baerren excused absence.
Speicher moved to go into executive session with Planning Commission to discuss issues pertaining to the Zoning Administrator, seconded by May. Carried unanimously.
8:04 p.m. returned to Open Meeting
Speicher moved to go into executive session with Planning Commission and Zoning Administrator to discuss issues pertaining to the Zoning Administrator, seconded by May. Carried unanimously.
8:40 p.m. returned to Open Meeting
Speicher moved to release the Zoning Administrator from her duties, seconded by Beckwith. Beckwith "Aye", Speicher "Aye", May "Aye", Harrington "Nay" and Landers "Nay".
Discussion: Harrington thought the Township Board was making a mistake.
Speicher moved to make the decision effective immediately with pay through August 31, 1999, seconded by May. Beckwith "Aye", Speicher "Aye", May "Aye", Harrington "Nay" and Landers "Nay".
Discussion: Harrington asked who will take her position? Beckwith answered the Zoning Administrator’s position would have to be advertised.
Speicher moved to advertise for a Zoning Administrator in the newspaper through September 1, 1999, with replies to be sent to Planning Commission, seconded by May. Carried unanimously.
Discussion: Planning Commission Chairman, Vic Sedlak requested a leave of absence from the Planning Commission until a Zoning Administrator could be obtained.
Beckwith moved to allow Vic Sedlak a leave of absence from the position of Planning Commission Chairperson until obtaining a Zoning Administrator, seconded by May. Carried unanimously.
Speicher recommended appointing Vic Sedlak as interim Zoning Administrator until a permanent Zoning Administrator was selected, seconded by Landers. Carried unanimously.
May moved to continue with distribution of Commodities, seconded by Speicher. Carried unanimously.
May moved to advertise the distribution of Commodities, seconded by Speicher. Carried unanimously.
May moved to pay the interim Zoning Administrator $225.00 per month starting August 10, 1999 until permanent Zoning Administrator was selected. Carried unanimously.
