Supervisor Beckwith called the Special Meeting of Columbia Township Board to order at 10:05 a.m. Present Beckwith, Speicher, and Harrington. Excused absence Landers. Attorney Boardman and Fire Chief Rogalla also present.

SPECIAL MEETING BUSNESS: Fire Issues

Attorney Boardman discussed and answered board and others questions on issues related to fire protection.

  1. Speicher moved to approve Resolution 9922 "Conveying Real Property as a Result of the BBACG Administrative Fire Board’s Distribution of Assets", seconded by Harrington. Beckwith "Aye", Speicher "Aye", May "Aye", Harrington "Aye", and Landers "Absent" resolution adopted.
  2. Speicher moved to pay Attorney Boardman’s attorney fee of $1,050.50, seconded by Harrington. Carried unanimously.
  3. Discussion: Beckwith is point of contact for all issues related to Roads. There are concerns with the storm lines in Grand Junction. The issue arose during discussion of the new 8" well needing to cross the road to get to the fire station.
  4. May moved to rescind the June 29, 1999 fire chief wages and recommended fire chief salary at $1,500 per month, $15.00 per response and $15.00 for each hour after the response. Training will be paid at $7.00 per hour. Fire Chief Harry W. Rogalla shall provide the board with goals and objectives by August 1, 1999. January of 2000, the board will review and evaluate the goals and objectives with Fire Chief Harry W. Rogalla, seconded by Speicher. Carried unanimously.
  5. Beckwith moved to send out a flier seeking volunteer fire fighters using bulk mail with fire fighter determining date of open house, May seconded. Carried unanimously.
  6. Speicher moved to approve the special meeting minutes of June 22, 1999, seconded by Beckwith. Carried unanimously.
  7. Speicher moved to approve the special meeting minutes of June 23, 1999, seconded by May. Carried unanimously.
  8. Discussed when an amendment to the fire department budget would be available. Fire Chief thought by August Township board meeting.
