The regular meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Larry Burgett. Present were Grahek, May, Landers, and Harrington. 25 people also attended.
Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved with a motion by Landers, seconded by Burgett. Carried unanimously. Minutes of the May 24 special meeting were read and approved with a motion by Landers, seconded by May. Harrington cast the lone dissenting vote, saying he didn't know the resolution the board voted on was a resolution.
Treasurer's Report was read by May and was approved as follows:

Motion by Grahek seconded by Landers. Roll call vote unanimous.
Clerk's Report of monthly bills was read, and after a discussion of the Township's MTA membership, approved as follows:
General Fund: $12,471.82
Motion by May, seconded by Grahek. Roll call vote unanimous.
Burgett thanked the Township Hall Committee, consisting of Al Doremus, Al Mullins, and Jim Wellington, and he thanked the people for their support and compliments on the new hall.
Grahek thanked those who helped out at the transfer station on free dump day.
May introduced the revised version of poverty standards for the Township to adopt. After a brief discussion, May made the motion to adopt the standards, and Grahek seconded it. Carried unanimously.
Next May introduced the proposed Township Hall/Community Center Use Policy and Rental Agreement. After a brief discussion he moved that we adopt it. Burgett seconded. Carried unanimously.
Assessor Hal Manning reported that during the past year, of the 74 instances of building related activity, 53 were buildings added. Of the 25 new single family homes, only 3 were site built homes. He said this reflects the trend all over the area.
BBACG Fire Board Rep. David Goss reported that the Fire Dept. will keep the same millage, rather than increase it. He also reported that there are full time ambulance personnel in Bangor. They are still working on upgrading to "limited advance." He reported that Bill Hemmingway is the new Fire Chief and Jim Ellis is the Asst. Chief. He also reported that BBACG is negotiating with Lee twp. to help cover the north side of Columbia Twp.
Jan Conway reported that the hospital is working on its new budget, and that they will start some renovations. She also said that she would have hospital personnel come out to give briefings on Medicare and Medicaid.
Roman Plaszczak announced his candidacy for Circuit Court Judge, and answered some questions.
May publicly thanked Rep. Fred Upton for the new flag which was flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC to commemorate Columbia Township's new hall.
Grahek moved to adjourn, seconded by Burgett. Meeting adjourned at 9:08 PM.
