SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP BOARD

Wednesday, July 8, 2020 5:00 PM

THE MEETING WILL BE HELD ELECTRONICALLY 

The Columbia Township Board will hold a special meeting electronically on July 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. This meeting will be held electronically pursuant to the Open Meetings Act and Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-129. Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-129, the Township gives notice of the following:

  1.         Reason for Electronic Meeting.  The Board is holding its meetings by electronic means only because, pursuant to Executive Order 2020-110, the Township Hall provides limited access to the public, residents are encouraged to remain at home or in their place of residence to the maximum extent feasible, and all in-person government activities are limited except for critical infrastructure workers and workers necessary to conduct minimum basic operations.
  2.         Procedures.  The public may participate in the meeting electronically and may make public comment by:

  1.         Contact Information.  For those people who desire to contact members of the Township Board to provide input or ask questions on any business that will come before the public body at the meeting, please contact Christy Case, Township Clerk, clerk@columbiatwp.com prior to the start of the  meeting.
  2.     Persons with Disabilities.  Persons with disabilities may participate in the meeting through the methods set forth in paragraph 2.  Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services in order to attend electronically should notify Christy Case, Township Clerk, clerk@columbiatwp.com within a reasonable time in advance of the meeting.

The purpose of this meeting is to consult with the Township’s attorney regarding trial or settlement strategy in connection with specific pending litigation, Kenneth J. Speicher v Columbia Township and FOIA Coordinator, Stacey Corke, Case No. 2019-069689-CZ, because an open meeting would have a detrimental financial effect on the Township’s litigating or settlement position.
