Duties & Responsibilities
The duties of the Clerk are numerous, technical and legally essential to the proper operation of municipal government. The Clerk is an elected position on the Board of Trustees. Some of the duties and responsibilities of the Clerk are defined by State statutes, and include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining custody of all Township records (i.e. contracts, resolutions, ordinances)
- Recording and maintaining Township meeting minutes
- Publishing meeting notices as needed
- Keeping the Township book of oaths
- Creating Board of Trustees meeting minutes
- Keeping voter registration files
- Conducting elections
- Administering finance, purchasing and accounts payables.
In our Township, the Clerk also:
- Provides payroll services
- Manages FOIA requests and documentation (when appointed to do so)
- Maintains the website and supporting software platforms (i.e. Transparency Portal)
- Provides various other services as needs arise
