Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Nuismer, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 20 citizens & the township attorney.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-May 19, 2009; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-May 18, 2009; bills through June 16, 2009; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.
Clerk: Bills paid after the Consent Agenda. Lake Michigan Mailers-$643.50; Dave Pabis-$782.00; Keith Gasper-$534.85; Chuck Moore-$216.43; Ink & More-$70.00. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve the bills paid after the consent agenda. Carried unanimously.

Additions/Corrections to Agenda: Add attorney opinion about the closing of the easement to Dutch Mill to New Business # 5. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, Carried unanimously.
Supervisor: Many calls have been received about the Dutch Mill easement.
Assessor: No Report.
Fire Chief: 4 calls received in May: 1 structure fire; 2 motor vehicle accidents, 1 grass fire. Average response time was 7.75 minutes. Jason Bryant & Angela Gardener successfully completed Firefighter I & II. Cody Sedlac successfully completed the fire science course at the Van Buren Tech Center.
Sheriff: 118 complaints received in May: 6 assault; 1 arson; 1 breaking & entering; 6 larceny; 2 open intoxicant; 4 obstructing justice; 1 explosives; 14 public peace; 2 hit & run; 2 traffic violation; 8 health & safety; 4 invasion of privacy; 1 conservation; 8 accident; 2 abandon/hazard; 5 alarm activation; 1 civil/property dispute; 2 suspicious situation; 1 missing person; 27 general assistance; 4 att pick up; 10 be on the lookout. 2 arson investigations are in progress.
State Police: No Report.
County Commissioner: No Report.
Planning Commission: A Public Hearing was held June 15 about the rezoning of properties in Grand Junction.
Neighborhood Watch: Pancake breakfast-July 4th from 7am to Noon. No meeting will be held in the month of July. Make sure that Census takers show proper ID.
Hospital: 3 $1000 scholarships were granted to Kelsey Sill, Jessica Molenda, & Yerizel Rodriquez. A Red Cross Blood drive will be held at Peace Lutheran Church on June 24. Kids Camp at the Wellness Center June 14-22-29. New providers at the hospital are Curtis Buchheit MD; Sylvia Mustonen DO; Marcus Bonasso PA-C.
South Haven Senior Services: No Report.
Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.
Zoning Administrator: 4 Zoning Compliances issued in May: 1 pole barn; 1 reroof; 1 bathroom remodel; 1 attached garage.
Blight Officer: No Report.
Correspondence: None
Old Business: Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve the Columbia Township FOIA Policy 2009-02. Roll call-Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Nuismer aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously.
New Business: 1. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to hire Quality Asphalt to pave the Fire Department parking lot. Carried unanimously. 2. Motion by Bradford, second by Nuismer, to deny Roger Flammang’s appeal to FOIA requests February 21, 2009 A & B and to authorize Bradford to send a letter to that effect. Burgett abstain. Carried 3. Motion by Burgett, second by Bradford, to approve Resolution 2009-19, Fiber Optic Ring. Roll call-Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Nuismer aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously. 4. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to have the township offices closed July 4th. Carried unanimously. 5. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to approve Policy 2009-03, Blockage of the easement by Dutch Mill Roll call-Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Nuismer aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously.

Public Comment: J. Huzienga-It is great that the ball field is being used and that the township board provided picnic tables & a port o jon.
