Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Nuismer, Hurley, and Harrington was absent. In attendance were 27 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-April 21, 2009; Public Hearing Meeting Minutes-April 21, 2009; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-April 20, 2009; bills through May 19, 2009; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried.

Clerk: Bills paid after the Consent Agenda. Chuck Moore $242.46 Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve the bills paid after the consent agenda. Carried.

Public Comment: Dixie-Stated objections to the closing of one of the roads to Dutch Mill.

Supervisor: Many calls were received about the proposed closing of the road behind Dutch Mill.

Assessor: No Report.

Fire Chief: 5 calls received in April: 1 structure fire; 1 trash fire; 1 vehicle accident; 1 oil spill; 1 power line down. Average response time was 7.60 minutes.

Sheriff: 63 complaints received in April: 8 assault; 1 breaking & entering; 6 larceny; 1 stolen vehicle; 2 MDOP; 1 liquor law violation; 2 obstructing justice; 2 public peace; 1 OUIL; 7 health & safety; 1 invasion of privacy; 1 delinquent minor; 1 accident; 3 alarm activation; 1 civil/property dispute; 4 suspicious situation; 1 lost/found property; 16 general assistance; 2 be on the lookout; 2 fire dispatch.

State Police: No Report.

County Commissioner: A grant has been applied for, for the repair of the Breedsville Dam.

Planning Commission: No Report.

Neighborhood Watch: Practice boater safety for the coming months.

Hospital: No Report.

South Haven Senior Services: No Report.

Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.

Zoning Administrator: 7 Zoning Compliances issued in April: 1 screened porch; 1 packing house addition; 1 deck/garage; 1 hog barn; 3 pole barns.

Blight Officer: No Report.

Correspondence: None

Old Business: Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to table the CR 380 property until September. Carried.

Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to table the roadwork. Carried.

New Business: 1. Motion by Nuismer, second by Burgett, to approve not to exceed $300 for 2 picnic tables & chains for the ball field Carried . 2. Motion by Burgett, second by Bradford, to approve rental of a port o jon for the ball field for the summer. Carried. 3. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to table the FOIA Policy until next month. Carried. 4. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, the township offices closed May 23rd. Carried. Notices:

Public Comment: M.Arens-June 19th is the Senior Potluck. Every Tuesday-free bread given away. J.Grubisich-Will the township be having recycling. L.Johnson-Lee Township recycles. J.Huizenga-Read the story of the folding of a military flag.
