Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Nuismer, Harrington, and Hurley absent. In attendance were 27 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-March 17, 2009; Special Meeting Minutes- None; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-March 16, 2009; bills through April 21, 2009; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried.

Supervisor: Has been inspecting township roads.

Assessor: None

Fire Chief: 6 calls received in March: 1 structure with multiple exposures; 2 mutual aid at structure fires; 1 car fire/ 1 assist; 1 brush fire. Average response time was 4.88 minutes.

Sheriff: Gave report on complaints for March. The 911 surcharge is needed.

State Police: No Report.

County Commissioner: Vote yes for the 911 surcharge.

Planning Commission: No Report.

Neighborhood Watch: 911 Surcharge.

Hospital: No Report.

South Haven Senior Services: No Report.

Recreation/Cemetery: The bleachers were repaired at the ball field.

Zoning Administrator: 1 Zoning Compliance issued in March: 1 garage.

Blight Officer: No Report.

Correspondence: None

Old Business: 1. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve CR 380 Tent Resolution. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to rescind this motion. Carried.

Motion by Harrington, second by Bradford, to table action on the tents on CR 380 for 1 more month. Carried.

New Business: 1. Motion by Burgett, second by Bradford, to approve Resolution 2009-15 Creation of a Special Assessment District for the Eradication or control of aquatic weeds and plants for North Lake. Roll call vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried. 2. Motion by Burgett, second by Bradford, for gravel & dozer work at the Transfer Station, not to exceed $1000. Carried. 3. Motion by Bradford, second by Nuismer, to accept the resignation of Jan Conway as Hospital Rep. Carried. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to appoint Nadine Stacks as Hospital Rep. Carried. 4. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve Resolution 2009-17, Banking Transaction Resolution. Roll call vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried. 5. Motion by Burgett, second by Nuismer, to approve Resolution 2009-18 Representation Resolution. Roll call vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried. 6. Motion by Burgett, second by Bradford, to table the cost of the Great Bear Drain. Carried. 7. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to approve road work: 50th from 24th North to CR 380; 16th from CR 681 East to 56th; Sealcoat 56th from CR 388 to 8th & 50th from 8th to CR 384. Carried.

Beckwith-A letter or plaque should be given to Jan Conway for her service to Columbia Township. M. Arens-Thanks to the volunteers and Paul Acoustics that make the Senior Potlucks successful. J.Huizenga-How is Rosemary. Tell her we want her back.
