RESOLUTION 2009-19

Fiber Optic Ring

The undersigned, being all members of the Columbia Township Board, do hereby consent to, approve and adopt the following resolution:

RESOLVED, that the Columbia Township Board hereby supports Bloomingdale Communications’ proposal to construct a fiber-optic ring in Van Buren County. The fiber-optic ring would benefit our township in the following ways:

Enabling greater collaboration & teamwork between community service centers, Public Safety offices, and municipal offices.

Reducing costs and creating greater connectivity for area Public Schools.

Increased productivity by sharing support staff.

Connecting with other libraries, enabling distance learning and other programs.

Provide medical benefits to area hospitals by allowing software sharing between clinics, enabling the practice of tele-medicine, allowing staff resourcing between clinics, and connection to other medical resources.

The foregoing resolution offered by Board Member Burgett and supported by Board Member Bradford.

Upon roll call vote, the following voted.

Hurley aye

The Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.
