Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 36 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-May 20, 2008; Special Meeting Minutes- None; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-April 21, 2008; May 19, 2008; bills through June 17, 2008; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Clerk: Bills paid after the Consent Agenda. Ruth Cripps Clean Hall $150 Farmers Supply Fuel $896.37 Danielle Nuismer Secretary $663.11 Jerry Thibadeau Assesser $2812.50

Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve the bills paid after the consent agenda. Carried unanimously.

Guest Speaker: Carole Motycka, Register of Deeds. Vote for her August 5th.

Public Comment: None

Announcements: None

Additions/Corrections to Agenda: Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to add electrical for the flag light & the freezer as new business #7. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: Attended the meetings for the Ambulance Contract, Sheriff’s Deputy Contract, Van Buren Mental Health Meeting and will be having lunch with Tonya Schuitmaker in Lansing on the 19th.

Assessor: No Report.

Fire Chief: 9 calls received in May. . Average response time was 6.67 minutes. Ashley Boskovich, Jason Moore, and Shawn Schaedig completed the Van Buren County Firefighter Academy. The firefighter roof sit was a great success

Sheriff: No Report.

State Police: No Report.

County Commissioner: Starting July 1st, all county buildings will be smoke free. Chester Chip Ray is the new road commissioner for this area. The county will be able to take payment for dog licenses and delinquent taxes over the phone.

Planning Commission: Updating of the Master Plan is continuing.

Neighborhood Watch: Next meeting-July 3, 2008-7:30 pm.

Hospital: Board evaluation was done at the last meeting. Cooper Clinic will be opening soon.

South Haven Senior Services: Senior Day at the ISD had a good turnout. Call Jeanette, 637-3607, for $20 in coupons to be used at the farmers market or roadside stands.

Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.

Zoning Administrator: 5 Zoning Compliances issued in May: 2 Modulars, 1 Roof, 1 Used Trailer, and 1 new home.

Blight Officer: None

Old Business: None

New Business: 1. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to be closed June 29 through July 7. Carried unanimously. 2. Motion by Bradford, second by Hurley, to approve purchase of a 20,000 watt generator not to exceed $8,500. Carried unanimously. 3. Motion by Burgett, second by Bradford, to approve purchase of a fuel tank not to exceed $1,301. Motion by Hurley, second by Burgett, to amend the motion to table until we received more information. Carried unanimously. 4. Motion by Bradford, second by Fogarty, to table the purchase of training equipment not to exceed $8,400 until we received more information. Carried unanimously. 5. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve Resolution 2008-17, Board of Review Date Change. Roll Call Vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley, aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously. 6. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve Resolution 2008-18, Budget Amendment. Roll call vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously. 7. Motion by Bradford, second by Hurley, to approve electrical for the freezer and flag, not to exceed $180 + the cost of permits. Carried Unanimously.

Public Comment: L. Johnson-has my blight case been dropped yet? R. Hurley-work crew will be working 3 days this summer, June 24, July 10, & July 31. J. Huizenga-Vita Pike received the citizen of the year award from Neighborhood Watch and a Recognition Award from Sheriff Gribler.
