Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 29 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-March 11, 2008; Special Meeting Minutes- March 31, 2008; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-February 18, 2008 & march 17, 2008; bills through April 15, 2008; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Public Comment: L. Johnson-CR 215 /CR 388, park is flooded J. Wellington, L. Johnson, H. Braunz-Discussion about the private roads being blocked in Erkenbeck Subdivision. J. Bower-Requested the township to pass a resolution that Gingerman Raceway put in a birm. R. Hurley-Columbia Township will be a drop off for old cell phones.

Additions/Corrections to Agenda: Motion by Bradford, second by Harrington, to add the fire truck quote To New Business #4. Carried unanimously. Motion by Burgett, second by Harrington, to add the roadwork millage to New Business #5. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: No Report.

Assessor: No Report.

Fire Chief: 8 calls received in March: 1 wash down assist to VBC deputies, 1 Mutual aid assist to Bloomingdale, 1 ice rescue, 1 grass fire, 1 tire fire, 2 power lines down/arcing, and 1 unauthorized burn. Average response time was 7.63 minutes.

Sheriff: 67 complaints received in March: 1 abandoned vehicle, 7 accidents, 6 alarm activation, 3 animal at large, 10 assault, 3 be on the look out, 3 breaking & entering, 5 criminal sexual conduct; 1 cruelty to animals, 1 fraudulent activity, 14 general assistance, 1 health & safety, 4 larceny, 1 lost/found property, 1 MDOP, 2 obstructing justice, 1 reckless firearm, 2 suspicious situation, 1 traffic violation.

State Police: No report.

County Commissioner: North Point is still pending. 2 additional road commissioners will be appointed.

Planning Commission: No Report.

Neighborhood Watch: Next meeting-May 1, 2008-7:30 pm. 313 members. Pancake Breakfast-July 5, 2008.

Hospital: Book Fair-April 22-10am-4pm; Smoking Cessation-April 8-15-11-19-4-5pm; Healthcare Decision Day-April 16-1-7pm; Health & Humor-April 23-1:30-2:30pm; My Aching Knee-April 24-6:30pm.

South Haven Senior Services: No Report.

Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.

Zoning Administrator: 1 Zoning Compliance issued in March: 1 modular with attached garage & unattached pole barn.

Discussion: The meeting hall floors need to be refinished.

Old Business: None

New Business: 1. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve $500 for the Hazardous Waste Program. Carried unanimously. 2. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to approve paving preparation for 50th St. between CR 380 & 24th and 16th Av. between CR 681 56th. Carried unanimously. The Board heard comments on paving & prep of township roads. 3. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to appoint Dean Beckwith to the Zoning Board of Appeals and Linda Seaman as alternate. Carried unanimously. 4. Motion by Bradford, second by Harrington, to approve purchase of a fire truck, price to be negotiated and not to exceed $209,163. Carried unanimously. 5. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve the renewal of the road millage, Resolution 2008-14. Roll call vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously.
