Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Fogarty, and Harrington. Hurley absent. In attendance were 18 citizens.

Supervisor: Bradford met with Brian from Coloma Ambulance to discuss coverage in Columbia Township.

Fire Chief: 8 calls received in October: 2 accidents, 1 hazmat investigation, 1 downed power line, 1 chimney flue fire, 1 cancelled, 2 mutual aid (Lee & B’dale). Average response time was 5.63 minutes.

Sheriff: 92 complaints received in October: 1 abandoned vehicle, 7 accidents, 9 alarm activation, 4 animal at large, 5 ATT pickup, 9 be on the look out, 4 breaking & entering, 1 conservation, 1 criminal sexual conduct; 1 delinquent minor, 1 fraudulent activity, 25 general assistance, 1 harassing/nuisance, 1 health & safety, 1 hit & run, 2 invasion of privacy, 4 larceny, 1 lost/found property, 3 MDOP, 5 missing person, 1 obstructing justice, 4 suspicious situation, 1 vehicle inspection.

State Police: No Report.

County Commissioner: No Report.

Planning Commission: The Zoning Ordinance is ready for a public hearing.

Neighborhood Watch: John H. needs a secretary.

Hospital: The grand opening of the Shoreline Wellness center will be November 30. The Michigan Harvest Food Gathering was a success. The Book Fair will be held December 12 & 13.

South Haven Senior Services: No Report.

Recreation/Cemetery: Harrington is getting quotes for the Cemetery fencing.

Zoning Administrator: 10 Zoning Compliances issued in October: 1 sunroom addition, 1 basement refinish, 1 window /siding, 1 new roof, 2 carports, 1 new home, 1 trailer, 1 pole barn, and 1 attached garage.

Blight Officer: No Report

Assessor: 9% valuation increase for Columbia Township. The CPI for 2008 will be 2.3%. Foreclosures & Sales are about the same as last year. Fire Lane maps are being updated.

New Business: 1. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to be closed from December 22nd through January 1st. Carried. 2. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve $2,600 for the MTA Conference in January. Carried. 3. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to table the Senior Dinner Budget. Carried. 4. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to approve John Markovich’s bid of $3,380 to paint Station 1. Carried. 5. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve 2 ice rescue kits, not to exceed $3,000. Carried.
