Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 32 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-August 21, 2007; Special Meeting Minutes- September 9, 2007; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-August 20, 2007; bills through September 18, 2007; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: Bradford asked each board member, including himself, individually if they had ever had a meeting that was not open to the public. All answered NO.

Fire Chief: 21 calls received in August: 2 motor vehicle accidents, 1 grass fire, 3 smoke detector activations, 1 CO detector activation, 1 flammable gas leak, 1 good intent call, 1 authorized controlled burn, 2 structure, 7 downed wire. Average response time was 5.33 minutes. Have heating systems checked before cold weather.

Sheriff: 167 complaints received in August: 5 abandoned vehicle, 9 accidents, 10 alarm activation, 9 animal at large, 19 assault, 1 ATT pickup, 10 be on the look out, 5 breaking & entering, 1 civil/property disputes, 1 criminal sexual conduct; 1 cruelty to animals, 1 dog law violation, 5 flee/allude, 37 general assistance, 2 harassing/nuisance, 3 health & safety, 3 hit & run, 7 invasion of privacy, 14 larceny, 1 lost/found property, 1 marine patrol, 1 MDOP, 2 obstructing justice, 3 under the influence of liquor, 1 runaway, 3 stolen vehicle, 5 suspicious situation, 3 traffic violation, 3 traffic stop, 1 vehicle inspection.

State Police: No Report.

County Commissioner: The audit showed minor corrections. The Board of Commissioners visited North Point.

Planning Commission: The Lange Special use request was tabled until March, 2008

Neighborhood Watch: The October 4 meeting will be the last of the year.

Hospital: No Report.

South Haven Senior Services: Blood Pressure/Blood Sugar will be held during Commodities on October 19, 2007.

Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.

Zoning Administrator: 7 Zoning Compliances issued in August: 1 log home, 1 single wide, 1 addition, 1 lean to, 1 re-roof, 2 pole buildings,.

Blight Officer: No Report.

Old Business: None

New Business: 1. Motion by Bradford, second by Burgett, to take no action on the request by the railroad to close the 8th Av. crossing. Carried unanimously. 2. Motion by Hurley, second by Burgett, to put the Baseline property up for bid. Motion by Hurley, second by Burgett, to amend to table the Baseline property until a value can be placed on the property. Carried unanimously. 3. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve $900 for Firefighter training for 3. Carried unanimously. 4. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve Resolution 2007-15-Planning Commission Chair Salary Roll call vote: Bradford aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Hurley aye, Harrington aye. Carried unanimously.

Spangler-Trees were on fire on 56th. Stickney-Requested to have the transfer station open on Sunday. Bradford stated that we were past the addition/correction to the agenda and asked if anyone would like to make a motion to vote on it. No one did. Bower-would like to see garbage pick up on the ballot. Lemmer-requested a street light at 51-1/2 & 8th Av. Kalosky-The ad in the reminder leads everyone to believe that all taxpayers are part of this group, which is not the case. The people behind this ad need to come forward and say who they are.

Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to adjourn. Carried unanimously.
