Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 17 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-December 20, 2005; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-December 6, 2005; bills through January 16, 2006; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve the bills paid after the consent agenda. Carried unanimously.

Public Comment: Beckwith-Grand Junction intersections are in bad shape and should be repaired.

Announcements: None

Additions/Corrections to Agenda: Motion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to add the discussion of Breedsville Village hiring Ron Douglas to be their blight officer. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: No Report

Sheriff: 60 complaints received in December: 8 accidents, 6 alarm activation, 1 alcohol complaint, 12 animal control, 2 assault, 1 delinquent minor, 14 general assistance, 2 larceny, 4 public peace, 1 stolen vehicle, 5 suspicious situation, 4 traffic violation.

State Police: Kyle Gorham gave a report of the activity in Columbia Township in December.

County Commissioner: No Report.

Fire Chief: 5 calls received in December, 1 car fire, 1 structure fire, 1 structure fire assist, 1 motor home fire, 1 motor vehicle accident. Average response time was 7.60 minutes.

Planning Commission: The changes to the Agricultural District of the Zoning Ordinance have been given to the Township Board.

Neighborhood Watch: Senior Night Out on January 20, 2006.

Hospital: 397 babies were born during 2005 at SH Hospital; 8,444 # of food were donated by SH Hospital; Heart to Heart Screening will be held February 14, 15, & 16.

South Haven Senior Services: No Report.

Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.

Zoning Administrator: One Zoning Compliance issued in December: 1 pole building

Correspondence: None

Discussion: The Village of Breedsville would like to hire Deputy Ron Douglas as their blight & ordinance enforcement officer.

Old Business:

bulletMotion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve purchase of a skid unit for the grass rig at a cost of $10,000. A grant of $5000 to be paid by the DNR. Carried unanimously.
bulletMotion by Burgett, second by Hurley, to table the Insurance Liability until next month. Carried unanimously.
