Supervisor Bradford called the Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board to order. Present were Bradford, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 25 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-May 17, 2005; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-May 10, 2005; bills through June 21, 2005; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: The Nextel Tower is up and working. Dale Bradford is taking the Assessor Level I course on line.
Sheriff: 131 complaints received in May: 2 abandoned vehicle, 4 accidents, 7 alarm activation, 10 animal control, 1 arson, 13 assault, 2 ATT pick up, 7 be on the look out, 4 breaking & entering, 2 civil/property disputes, 1 cruelty to animals, 7 dog law violation, 3 fraudulent activity, 25 general assistance, 1 harassing/nuisance, 9 health & safety, 8 larceny, 1 lost/found property, 2 MDOP, 3 obstructing justice, 1 under the influence of liquor, 1 public peace, 1 reckless firearm, 3 runaway, 1 stolen vehicle, 6 suspicious situation, 1 traffic violation, 1 VCSA, 4 vehicle inspection.
County Commissioner: Van Buren Public Transit will be down sizing. The County is having financial problems – services will be slower. Additional deputies for security at the courthouse was not approved.
Fire Chief: 6 calls received in May, 1 accident (no injuries), 2 outside rubbish, 1 personal injury, 1 structure (assist), 1 transformer fire/downed wire. Average response time was 9.5 minutes.
Planning Commission: Al Baerren resigned from the Planning Commission. A Special Use Permit for a sign for Michigan Blueberry Growers was approved. The Planning Commission continuing to update the Zoning Ordinance was approved 3 to 2.
Neighborhood Watch: Members of the Neighborhood Watch are watching for signs of Meth. Ingredients to make meth are being put behind the counter by many retailers. August 4th, Senator Jelinek will be the guest speaker. Neighborhood Watch endorses the 1.25 mills for Public Safety.
Book Station: No Report.
Hospital: South Haven Community Hospital was named one of the top 100 hospitals in the United States. Theresa Jones, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist has been added to the Medical Staff.
South Haven Senior Services: No Report.
Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.
Zoning Administrator: 2 Zoning Compliances issued in May: 1 pole building and 1 modular.

Frank Grubisich stated that the township spent $8000 for a phone system. (Actual cost was $2,514.04).
