RESOLUTION 2004-18

"RENEWAL OF ROAD MILLAGE RESOLUTION"

WHEREAS, Columbia Township is seeking to renew the road millage in order to provide for maintenance of its roads;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, Columbia Township does hereby resolve to submit the following ballot proposition in the primary election to be held TUESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2004.

"Shall the limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed on the taxable valuation of real and personal property in Columbia Township, Van Buren County, Michigan, be renewed for 2.8722 mil, being $2.87 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation, for a period of four (4) years, commencing with the 2005 tax year for the purpose of road maintenance, improvements, repair, and construction. It is estimated the revenue collected by Columbia Township as a result of this proposal will be $174,057 in the first year of the levy."

The foregoing resolution offered by Board Member Burgett and supported by Board Member Hurley.

Upon roll call vote, the following voted.  Beckwith aye; Burgett aye; Fogarty aye; Harrington aye; Hurley aye .

The Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.
