The Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Beckwith. Present were Beckwith, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 20 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-May 20, 2003; Special Meeting Minutes-June 10, 2003; Planning Commission Meeting Minutes-May 6, 2003; bills through June 16, 2003; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, second by Fogarty, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: Ambulance average response time for April was 5.36 minutes.

Sheriff: 161 complaints received in May: 9 accidents, 9 alarm activation, 6 alcohol related, 23 ambulance calls, 5 animal control, 5 assault, 5 be on the look out, 2 breaking & entering, 3 civil property dispute, 2 delinquent minor, 1 flee & elude police, 19 general assistance, 5 larceny, 3 MDOP, 12 public peace, 1 stolen vehicle, 7 suspicious situation, 15 traffic complaints, 15 warrant arrests.

State Police: No Report

County Commissioner: No Report

Fire Chief: 3 calls in May, including 1 controlled burn, 1 outside rubbish fire resulting in a grass fire, and 1 gas leak. Average response time for May was 8.67 minutes. The ice & water rescue boat has been put into service. David Johnson, Lori Johnson, Brian Anderson, Mitch Gibson, Carl Leadingham, and Jeremi Price graduated from Michigan FF I & II. They will be driving around the township for training. A large amount of homes in the township do not have house numbers. This makes it very difficult for emergency personnel to locate an address in the case of a 911 call.

Planning Commission: The Zoning Ordinance Revision in July will be reviewing site plan requirements.

Neighborhood Watch: There will be no meeting in July. The pancake breakfast will be July 5, from 8:00 AM to Noon at the Columbia Township Hall.

Book Station: A special thank you to Bryce May, David Hill, and Jim Fogarty for setting up the computers & the internet at the Book Station. Computer classes will begin in July.

Hospital: Dr. David Dunworth, General Surgeon, and Dr. John Young, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, have joined the staff of South Haven Hospital. The Fiscal Year 2004 budget has been approved. Nurse Practitioner Mona Hale, has joined the staff at Covert Medical Center.

South Haven Senior Services: Every second Thursday a blood pressure/blood sugar test from 9:30 am to 10:30 am is held at the Columbia Township Hall & the last Wednesday of every month a Bingo/Lunch is held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Recreation/Cemetery: Terri Ann Page is updating the cemetery records.

Zoning Administrator: Permits issued in May: 9 Building Compliances, 1 wood frame, 1 modular, 1 addition, 1 tree house, 3 pole buildings, 1 pole building floor.

Blight Administrator: 2 Blight complaints received in May, 1 has been cleaned up.
