The Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Beckwith. Present were Beckwith, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 17 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-September 17, 2002; Special Meeting Minutes-September 20, 2002; bills through October 14, 2002; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, seconded by Hurley, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.
Clerk: Bills paid since October 14, 2002.
West Shore Fire Fire Fighter Clothing $3,709.22
First Nat’l Bank Treasurer Training $ 60.00
Motion by Burgett, seconded by Fogarty, to approve the bills paid after the consent agenda. Carried unanimously.
| Guest Speaker: Bob Garvison-Black River Radio Club would like to have every municipality in the area give $200 toward operation of the club. | |
| Kaye Lindsay-Director South Haven Senior Services explained the services that would be provided to the area. |

Additions/Corrections to the Agenda: Remove appointment of representative to South Haven Senior Services Board.
Supervisor: Coloma Ambulance average response time for September was 7.4 minutes for 11 calls.
| In regards to the lawsuit filed by Frank Grubisich against Columbia Township, On September 23, 2002, Judge Buhl granted the motion for approved costs and attorney fees to be paid by Frank Grubisich, in the amount of $23,552.96. Frank Grubisich advised Attorney Bob Callahan that he will not be pursuing the matter any further and would like to coordinate the payment of the costs and fees. |
Sheriff: 103 complaints received in September, including 5 larceny, and 9 suspicious activity.
State Police: No Report
County Commissioner: No Report
Fire Chief: 6 calls in September, including 4 personal injury, 1 downed wire, and 1 CO2 activation. Average response time for September was 6:00 minutes.
Planning Commission: No Report
Neighborhood Watch: Next meeting-November 7, 2002-7:30 pm. Neighborhood Watch will be handing out candy at the Columbia Township Fire Station on Halloween, October 31, 2002, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
Book Station: Tickets are on sale for the Book Station raffle until January 3, 2003.
Hospital: October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. South Haven Hospital will be offering mammograms for $65. The 2002 Harvest Gathering Drive to collect and donate non-perishable food is underway.
Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.
Zoning Administrator: Permits issued in September: 14 Building Compliances, 1 stick built, 3 Modulars, 1 used mobile, 2 remodeling & additions, 4 pole buildings, and 3 garages.
Blight Administrator: 6 Blight complaints received in September, 3 have been resolved.
