The Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Beckwith. Present were Beckwith, Burgett, Fogarty, Hurley, and Harrington. In attendance were 25 citizens.

Consent Agenda: Regular Meeting Minutes-June 18, 2002; Special Meeting Minutes- July 10, 2002; bills through July 15, 2002; Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, seconded by Fogarty, to approve the Consent Agenda. Carried unanimously.

Guest Speaker: None

Supervisor: Ambulance average response time for June was 7.0 minutes. Thanks to the Board and helpers in the South Haven Fourth of July parade. The Pancake Breakfast was a huge success.

Sheriff: 136 complaints received in June: 4 burglaries, 13 assault, 12 theft, 1 robbery, and other suspicious calls.

State Police: No Report

County Commissioner: The County tax sale will be held in September. Everyone please vote for the Sheriff Millage, August 6th.

Fire Chief: 13 calls in June, including 1 structure, and 4 grass fires. The Pancake Breakfast brought in $671 in ticket sales and $246 in donations. 11 trainees will be taking classes from September 24 until April 28. Average response time for June was 4.06 minutes.

Planning Commission: The Public Hearing on changes to the zoning map and ordinance was held July 2nd.

Neighborhood Watch: Next meeting-August 1, 2002-7:30 pm. Dale Gribler & Juris Kaps will be our guest speakers.

Book Station: The Book Station will be holding a spaghetti dinner August 24, 2002. Tickets will be $6 for adults and $3 for children. We now have 85 people with library cards. The Book Station will not be accepting any more books until we get computers.

Hospital: The 2003 Budget has been approved. Val Morgan was honored for having donated 2,397-1/4 hours working in the hospital’s Emergency Room in the past year.

Recreation/Cemetery: No Report.

Grant Writing: No Report

Zoning Administrator: Issued in June-17 Building Compliances, 15 Electrical Permits, and 3 Mechanical Permits.

Blight Administrator: 5 Blight complaints in June, 3 have been resolved.

                    4) Low income sign up for commodities will be Friday, July 19, 2002 at the Township Hall.

Public Comment: A party will be held for Mr. & Mrs. Al Mullins, who are moving out of the Township, by Neighborhood

Watch.

Ann Willett is the new treasurer of Neighborhood Watch.

Public transit is struggling financially.
