The Regular Meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Beckwith. Present were Beckwith, Burgett, Fogarty, Harrington, and Hurley. In attendance were 31 individuals.

Consent Agenda: Regular meeting minutes, June 19, 2001; Special meeting minutes, June 22, 2001, July 10, 2001. Monthly bills through July 16, 2001. Treasurer’s Report. Motion by Burgett, seconded by Beckwith, to approve the consent agenda. Carried unanimously.

Supervisor: Thank you to Dave Pabis for donating his time and materials for installation of the light for the flag pole. Thank you to Dan Burgett for donating his time to do many things around the Township Hall.
Sheriff: 131 calls in June in Van Buren County. Burglaries are down.
County Commissioner: N/A
Fire Chief: Thanks to the people who came to the open house. The Fire Department has received a grant from Palisades for $350. Also, a 50/50 grant from the DNR for communication equipment. A form may be picked up at the hall for purchasing a green address sign.
Planning Commission: A copy of the Master Plan goals and objectives, is available at the Township Hall.
Neighborhood Watch: Neighborhood Watch currently has 3 patrols.
Book Station: Stoddard picked up the waste & fuel oil from the Book Station for a $45 testing fee. An empty fuel oil tank and 2-55 gallon barrels, are available free of charge by contacting Rosemary Hurley or Lynn Farley. Thanks to all who attended the Spaghetti Dinner and to all who helped to make it possible. A recipe book is being compiled, we would appreciate donations of your favorite recipe to be included in it.
Hospital: The hospital is operating on a 2% margin. Renovations are going to be made on the Women’s Center, Special Care Unit, and the Radiology Department. A new MD, Dr. Vince Guglielmetti, will be starting at the Shoreline Family Care Office on July 16, 2001.
Recreation: Waiting for bids on the stump removal at Thompson Cemetery

NEW BUSINESS:
| Motion by Beckwith, seconded by Fogarty, to approve the Resolution of Support for the Lake Michigan College Annexation Proposal. Roll call vote, Beckwith aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Harrington aye, Hurley nay. Carried. | |
| Motion by Burgett, seconded by Hurley, to approve the Zoning Administer wage of $11.25 per hour. Carried unanimously. | |
| Motion by Burgett, seconded by Hurley, to approve the Budget Amendment 2001-13. Roll call vote, Beckwith aye, Burgett aye, Fogarty aye, Harrington aye, Hurley aye. |
Motion by Harrington, seconded by Fogarty, to approve the purchase of communication equipment for the 50/50 grant .
Motion by Fogarty, seconded by Burgett, to amend the purchase to a maximum of $4,100. Carried. Original motion, carried.

A resident was concerned about tires at a residence in the Township and the removal of trees when 50th St. is improved.
