COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Type of Meeting:

SPECIAL

Date of Meeting:

Sunday, October 1, 2000

The Special Meeting of Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Beckwith at 6:00 p.m. Present Beckwith, Speicher, Harrington and Landers. Absent May. In attendance was Fire Chief Rogalla.

Agenda: Road Work on 56th Street, Road Access to lake on 48-1/2th Street and Emergency Services.

BUSINESS:

  1. Road Work 56th Street: Landers moved to approve spending $30,000 more on road work to 56th Street, provided funds are available, seconded by Harrington. Carried with Speicher against (3 to 1) May absent.

Discussion: The heavy equipment is located on 56th street, completing the job now instead of later can save the township money. The additional $30,000 for 56th street was not budgeted for this year. The additional $30,000 will have to be taken from the general fund, Speicher believes the township board should stay within the original plans as other roads also need to be worked on and this may affect doing other projects.

  1. Access to Lower Jephtha: Harrington moved to make the necessary repairs to Lower Jephtha Lake access back to previous access condition, seconded by Landers. Carried (4 to 0) May absent.
  2. Emergency Services: Speicher moved to keep emergency services Ambulance and Fire Department property separate as both departments had separate needs for property location, seconded by Landers. Carried (4 to 0) May absent.

May arrived at 6:55 p.m. Supervisor Beckwith began to brief May on previous board actions for the evening.

Speicher had previous engagement and left at 7:00 p.m.

4. Emergency Services Property: Speicher moved to authorize the fire chief and land committee to purchase property within amount authorized by Township Fire Budget ($30,000), seconded by Landers. Carried unanimously (4 to 0) Speicher absent.
