Supervisor Beckwith called the Special Meeting of Columbia Township Board to order at 5:00 p.m. Township Board Members present were Beckwith, Speicher, Harrington, and Landers. May advised he would not be in attendance as he was ill. Fire Chief Rogalla was also in attendance

Agenda: Fire Department Issues, Transfer Station Pay, and Clerk’s pay

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Security Alarm for Fire Station: Speicher moved to install security alarm system not to exceed $750.00 at the Grand Junction Fire Station, seconded by Beckwith. Carried unanimously.
  2. Discussions: There have been a number of breaking and enterings that have occurred in the Grand Junction area the past few weeks.

  3. Fire Department Leadership / Command: Speicher moved to add the position of Lieutenant to the fire department at a rate of $400 per year, seconded by Harrington. Carried unanimously.

  1. Fire Engine 2721: Harrington moved to replace the front leaf springs on fire engine 2721, seconded by Speicher. Carried unanimously.
  2. Discussion: The leaf spring was found broken on June 22, 2000.

  3. Back Roads Service: Speicher moved to issue Back Road Services a Check for $117.69 to correct an under payment, seconded by Landers. Carried unanimously.
  4. Transfer Station Helper’s pay: Landers moved to pay Josephine and Bobby McCaig for 11 hours each at the rate of $7.00 per hour and Butch Murphy 2 hours at the rate of $10.00 per hour to cover the cost of free dump day, seconded by Speicher. Carried unanimously.
  5. Clerk Salary: The Township Attorney stated Linda Stange could not be paid from township funds for doing the interim township clerk’s duties during a recall election.

Speicher moved to void the clerk’s and interim clerk’s checks and issue new checks as specified by the Township Attorney. Linda Stange’s check will be reduced by $219.00 and Clerk Speicher will received his full salary, seconded by Landers. Carried unanimously.
