Discussed receiving funding of $27,545 from county for 2000 road work.

May moved to increase the $30,000 being spent on 56th street to $40,000 with supervisor working closely with the road commission to make improvements, seconded by Speicher. Carried unanimously. May noted the total road expenditure for 2000 will be $233,342.00.

Discussion: Road work for 56th Street would cost $107,690.00. Large trees will have to be removed. The township should try to sell the trees to save money. Road Commission estimated it would cost $11,500 to have the trees removed.

Public Comments: A property owner on 56th Street wanted assurance the street would received funding next year as the road has been in bad shape for many years. The board could not promise funding as a renewal for road millage will be decided at the August primary. The board also does not know who will be in office after the November General Election.

This board is concerned with emergency routes and traveling safely on roads within the township. The board recommends the following roads as targets for 2001 road work; 56th Street, 50th Street, railroad crossing on CR-215 and CR-388 for improving emergency service routes.
