At 7:32 PM the special meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Burgett. All members were present. Also present was Undersheriff Jim Carol.
Mr. Carol explained the COPS GRANT to the Board. The cost of a full time deputy is approximately $11,000.00 per year. The grant is for $30.000.00 for one year. This leaves a balance of $22,000.00 that still needs to be paid. If Columbia and Geneva Townships co-apply for the grant for joint coverage, it would cost each township approximately $11,000.00. Board members were receptive to the idea and indicated they would like it put on the agenda for the next regular meeting.
Grahek passed out revised copies of proposed contracts for the Building and Mechanical Inspectors. The Board went over them and indicated preferences in wording. Grahek said he would get them ready so Burgett could have the Inspectors sign them.
Grahek noted that the 90 day appointments of the Inspectors would expire prior to the next regular meeting and moved to extend the temporary appointments until the contracts are finalized and signed, but not more than 30 days. Seconded by May. Carried unanimously.
Grahek moved to adjourn. Seconded by May. Meeting adjourned at 8:52 PM.
Gerald P. Grahek
