The regular meeting of the Columbia Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Larry Burgett. Present were Grahek, May, Harrington, and Landers. 32 people also attended.

Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved with a motion by Landers, seconded by May. Carried unanimously.

Minutes of special meeting of 10-04-96 were read and approved with a motion by May, seconded by Burgett. Carried unanimously.

Treasurer's Report was read by May and was approved as follows:

Road Fund

$16,115.94

General Fund Total

$246,287.34

Motion by Grahek, seconded by Burgett. Roll call vote unanimous.

Clerk's Report of monthly bills was read and approved as follows:

General Fund: $ 9,858.86.

Motion by Landers, seconded by May. Roll call vote unanimous.

Grahek introduced and moved to adopt a resolution to vacate the westerly 22' of Huron Street where the Country Fare Restaurant is located. He noted that the Road Commission had indicated that they would agree. Seconded by Harrington. Carried by unanimous roll call vote.

May introduced and moved to adopt a Liquor Control Ordinance. He explained that we needed to adopt one in order to receive state funds for the office of Constable. Seconded by Grahek. Carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Candidates Tonya Schuitmaker for Circuit Court Judge, Bill Queen for Sheriff, and Cedrick Dwyer for State Representative introduced themselves and gave brief statements of their positions on various subjects.

Charlie Sukka gave a brief talk about the hospital and answered several questions from the audience.

Motion by Grahek to adjourn, seconded by Burgett. Meeting adjourned at 9:21 PM.
