Grahek reported that Village of Breedsville officials had changed the locks on the old Township Hall to prevent Twp. officials from moving the voting machines to the new Twp. Hall for the August 6 Primary Election. Twp. officials coordinated with the police, had a locksmith open the building, and moved the voting machines and other Twp. possessions to the new Twp. Hall. He further reported that the primaries would be held on Aug. 6 as scheduled at the new Twp. Hall at 53053 CR 388, Grand Jct.

Grahek then introduced a resolution authorizing quit-claim of the old Twp Hall to the Village of Breedsville and authorizing payment of $500.00 to the village for repairs to the building. Burgett seconded. Harrington protested, saying the Board had agreed to help pay for upgrade of the restrooms. May reminded everyone that the only decision made at the workshop to which Harrington referred was the decision not to decide anything. He further reminded us that the Village Council had said they would provide the Twp with a revised estimate, but hadn't. After some discussion the Board adopted the resolution by a 4 to 1 roll call vote, with Harrington casting the dissenting vote.

Grahek then introduced a resolution to apply to the State to purchase tax reverted lots for next year's lot sale. Burgett seconded. Carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Grahek moved to authorize Harrington to have an appropriate sign made up for the Thompson Cemetery. Landers seconded. Carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Burgett brought up the subject of an open house for the new Twp Hall and Community Center. After some discussion it was proposed that the open house be held on Aug. 11 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, with hot dogs and light refreshments, and that May would send invitations to various public officials. Landers moved to approve the proposal, seconded by Harrington. Carried unanimously.

BBACG representative David Goss reported that he had discussed with the Lee Twp Fire Dept the possibility of them helping to cover the northern part of Columbia Twp. He said they were agreeable, but had to wait for approval from their Fire Board. He also read 2 letters, one from Fire Chief Hemmingway and one from Asst. Chief Ellis. The letters thanked Goss and the Columbia Twp Board for their cooperation and corrected misinformation that was published in campaign ads. Grahek moved to publish both letters in the Reminder to inform people about the Fire Board and the Twp Board. Burgett seconded. Motion carried by 4 to 1 with Harrington casting the dissenting vote.

Jan Conway gave the hospital report. She said they had their budget meeting, and they were beginning to remodel and to replace and upgrade equipment.

Tonya Schuitmaker, candidate for Circuit Court Judge, gave a brief talk and answered questions for the audience.

There were brief discussions about trees being cut along 8th Avenue, the assessor, and poverty standards.

Grahek moved to adjourn, seconded by Burgett. Meeting adjourned at 8:58 PM.
