Building A Home
The information on this page applies to all types of
homes except mobile homes.
Obtain a Zoning Compliance Permit
The purpose of the Zoning Compliance Permit is to ensure your project meets
the requirements of the Columbia Township Zoning Ordinance. The Zoning
Ordinance is there to protect the value of your investment and the value of
your neighbors' investments.
Begin the process by contacting the Zoning
Administrator. You can get
answers to most of your questions during your first visit. Some
questions require some research so the Zoning Administrator may have to
contact you later with the answer.
Other Permits
In addition to the Zoning Compliance Permit, the Zoning Administrator will
tell you what additional permits you need and how to obtain them. For
example, if you are building a new home, you may need Building, Electrical,
Mechanical, Plumbing, Septic, and Well permits. If you have a
contractor, he or she may obtain the permits on your behalf.
Contractors
All Building Contractors must fill out a Contractors Registration Form and
provide a copy of a current State License and current Certificate of
Insurance. Registration Fee is $25 per year.
